SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine (AP)   Union members are going back to work at a food distribution center in Maine in the aftermath of a 24-hour strike.

United Food and Commercial Workers Local 1445 began the strike on Wednesday morning. Members began returning on Thursday. They work at a Hannaford Distribution Center in South Portland.

The union is in a contract dispute with Delhaize America Distribution, which operates the distribution center. Both sides have said they plan to enter into mediated talks on Feb. 26.

The Portland Press Herald reports the strike didn’t appear to have an immediate effect on Hannaford stores. The center serves more than 100 Hannaford locations in New England.

The union is looking for concessions such as a better health insurance package and better wages for new union members.
