State Police say a driver traveling the wrong way on the Maine Turnpike caused multiple crashes.

According to the Portland Press Herald, police were notified that a Subaru in Wells was traveling north in the southbound lanes at 6 p.m. Saturday.

Police say the Subaru struck a BMW head-on at the Kennebunk service plaza. The BMW was then hit by another car.

The driver of the wrong-way vehicle, 45-year-old Charity Reynolds of Virginia, was charged with operating under the influence and driving to endanger.

Authorities say minor injuries were reported, but no one needed to be transported to a hospital.
