The Trauma Intervention Program (TIP) of Greater Portland is a non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring that those who are emotionally traumatized in emergency situations receive the immediate assistance they need. TIP is comprised of a group of specially trained and screened volunteers available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Proudly serving Greater Portland, TIP Volunteers are called by law enforcement, fire and hospital personnel to assist victims, families, friends, witnesses and bystanders by providing emotional support and practical resources.

Firefighter Andrew Cross, 27, of the Morrill Fire Department, was killed in the line of duty while working to protect his community. This morning, a procession of over 100 first responders lined the roads to honor him and escort his remains back to Waldo County.
The Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office said a firefighter was found in the rubble of the fatal fire. Because of the complexity of the scene, the investigation is expected to take some time.
