Maine Points: Efficiency Maine

Danny speaks with Michael Stoddard Executive Director of Efficiency Maine. Maine is making preparations with the EMT charger initiative and the EV rebates

Number of charging stations:
There are currently 480 public charging plugs in Maine, not including additional private workplace chargers.

New chargers coming from EMT grants:
A total of 150 Level 2 plugs have been awarded by EMT at public and workplace sites throughout the state (96 from Phase I and Phase II + 54 from recent PUC pilot). Many of these “community chargers” have been installed already and the rest will be completed this year. EMT has supported the installation of 28 new DC fast charging plugs of the 126 total that are now available in the state. They expect to add an additional 12-15 DC fast charging plugs this year. In the next 5 years, we expect to add another 50 fast charging plugs and 500 level 2 charging.

Number of EVs we rebate:
There are 26 eligible models on our list (12 BEVs and 14 PHEVs).
Efficiency Maine offers $1,000-$2,000 instant rebates on qualifying electric vehicles at participating Maine dealers. We have 58 participating dealers throughout the state, from York to Presque Isle
