The Overdose Prevention Through Intensive Outreach Naloxone and Safety (OPTIONS) initiative is a coordinated effort of the Maine Office of Behavioral Health (OBH) and other state agencies to improve the health of Mainers with substance use disorder. OPTIONS supports treatment, harm reduction and recovery, and aims to reduce the number of fatal and non-fatal drug related overdoses.

Firefighter Andrew Cross, 27, of the Morrill Fire Department, was killed in the line of duty while working to protect his community. This morning, a procession of over 100 first responders lined the roads to honor him and escort his remains back to Waldo County.
The Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office said a firefighter was found in the rubble of the fatal fire. Because of the complexity of the scene, the investigation is expected to take some time.
