Maine holds the unique distinction of being the oldest state in the nation by median age, a demographic reality that deeply shapes its social and economic landscape.

Currently, 23% of the state’s residents are aged 65 or older, representing more than 310,000 older adults who are still very active in working and community involvement activities.
