  • In the most recent year for which statistics are available 28 people died in paddlecraft-related accidents in the Northeast alone
  • This accounts for 60% of all recreational boating fatalities in the First Coast Guard District
  • More than half the deaths – 17 to be exact – occurred in the Northern New England Sector (9 in Maine, 7 in New Hampshire, 1 in Lake Champlain)
