Dispatcher Credited With Locating Injured, Lost Woman in Penobscot County

Penobscot County Sheriff's Office

Penobscot County deputies are crediting a dispatcher for leading them to a woman who was injured and lost in the woods in Carmel Sunday afternoon.

Dispatchers received a 911 call from the woman at 2:05 pm, who indicated she was severely dehydrated, suffering from a head injury and lost.

Deputies say the dispatch center used geolocation technology to find the woman’s exact whereabouts, and a well-trained dispatcher guided the deputy to her.

The Carmel Fire Department helped carry the woman to safety, where she received medical care.

The sheriff’s office says the swift response and coordinated efforts of multiple agencies led to the woman being safely located and provided with medical attention.
