Man who died after veering into oncoming traffic in Kittery may have suffered medical event

Police say a medical event may have caused a fatal head-on crash in Kittery on Wednesday.

According to CBS 13 news, police said 74-year-old Michael Cox of Kittery collided with an SUV after he drifted over the center lane on Route 1 around 3:15 Wednesday afternoon.

Cox died at the scene. The driver of the SUV was not injured.

Police said Cox may have suffered a medical event before the crash, causing him to veer into the oncoming lane.

The crash is still under investigation.
