Presque Isle (WGAN)- Police said a man called 911 to divert police while officers were serving warrants.

Our news partners at Channel Eight report that Anthony Cappuccio, 29, and Alyssa Cappuccio, 22, attempted to escape through the back door of their Presque Isle home this past Friday when police arrived.

While officers, game wardens and state police were searching the area, 911 dispatch received a call from a man saying he was being threatened by ‘”five men with guns.”

“Unfortunately for the caller, the location of the caller’s cell phone mapped back to the area of the manhunt (we found this suspicious),” police wrote on Facebook. “In addition to that misfortune, once captured Anthony provided his contact information, anyone care to guess what happened next?”

Anthony Cappuccio, upon his capture, gave Police the same number that had dialed 911 earlier.

“Anthony had a BIG FAIL. His lovely bride was captured soon thereafter,” police wrote.

Police said Anthony Cappuccio was being served warrants due to his failure to appear for sentencing on three drug trafficking charges in Kennebec County.

Due to her involvement in this runaround, Cappuccio’s wife, Alyssa, has been charged with operating after suspension, according to police.
