Clark James | LD 1911

LD 1911 would ban the spread and use of sludge, biosolids, and some compost on farms, garden centers and nurseries in Maine in response to PFAS found in the soil on a few farms in Maine.  A number of folks have come together to form the Maine Work Boots Coalition. Including Clark James of Casella Waste Systems. This group thinks this ban goes too far and want the bill amended

The point of the Maine Work Boots coalition is that all materials have some level of PFAS, and it doesn’t make sense to ban it only in sludge, biosolids, and some forms of compost. This group proposes an amendment that still provide the strictest enforcement of PFAS levels in the country while not putting farmers, garden centers, and nurseries at a competitive disadvantage.
