The Supreme Court will hear arguments on President Trump’s executive order ending birthright citizenship for children of undocumented immigrants and foreign residents, with oral arguments scheduled for May 15. The order, which remains paused nationwide, is part of a series of emergency applications by the Trump administration. Trump expressed satisfaction with the court’s decision, linking the issue to post-Civil War amendments. The Trump administration argues that the 14th Amendment’s citizenship clause was intended to address former slaves, not “anchor babies.” Legal experts believe the Trump administration faces an uphill battle, even with a 6-3 conservative majority. Additionally, there are reports that Trump has been considering firing Fed Chairman Jerome Powell for months, raising questions about the impact on Fed policy.
