Three men from Venezuela accused of running from police after a crash in Richmond are facing charges.

The Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office says police were pursuing a vehicle overnight Wednesday morning on I-295 when it went off the road.

Three men ran off in different directions and were all located and taken into custody later that morning.

The sheriff’s office says the men are from out of state, had Venezuelan IDs and didn’t speak English.

Police say the men were turned over Augusta police for a criminal theft case.

The investigation is ongoing and more charges are expected.
