Eggs & Issues 4/7/23

We are LIVE @ Eggs & Issues Moderator: Kristina Egan, Greater Portland Council of Governments.  The pandemic disrupted how we travel. More people worked from home, which brought less traffic, but, paradoxically, more crashes. Transit ridership plummeted, as did activity in downtowns. More people hopped on bikes and got outdoors, but this was accompanied by more serious injuries and fatalities on our roads. In this panel discussion, we’ll learn how the pandemic changed Greater Portland’s travel patterns and its impact on employers and businesses. We’ll explore which changes will likely persist, and what we need to do to keep downtowns and villages vibrant, walkers and bikers safe, and public transportation healthy.
