  • Maine Won’t Wait is a plan for climate action, and also economic growth and recovery after COVID-19.  As part of the plan, Gov. Mills has pledged to more than double Maine’s clean energy and energy efficiency jobs to more than 30,000 by 2030.
  • Solar and wind power are among the fastest growing industry sectors in the country, and a recent report from the US Climate Alliance put Maine as having one of the country’s fastest growing clean energy jobs sectors;
  • Converting homes to heat pumps are creating jobs and saving Maine people money, particularly in areas like northern Aroostook County, which received the most heat pump rebates of anywhere in the state over the last year;
  • Planning for a climate change is a global, national and state priority – but it will be implemented locally. Towns like Damariscotta are leading the way in local climate resiliency planning, and Maine Won’t Wait calls for greater local planning and funding support to help communities prepare for climate impacts.
