New England Golden Gloves 2023

We speak with Bob Russo President-Golden Gloves of America and Brian Dunn, Business Manager of Sprinkler Fitters Local Union 669 on New England Golden Gloves 2023.  This year marks the 76th year that the New England Golden Gloves Regional Tournament which will take place in January and February at the Lowell Auditorium in the great city of Lowell, Massachusetts to benefit Lowell Sun Charities. Golden Gloves USA and Amateur boxing is a formidable youth program that promotes respect, dignity, a healthy lifestyle, respect, self-confidence, and gives young people a positive place to belong. Many of the young people that gravitate to boxing come from broken homes without a father figure in their lives and need a positive direction in those exceedingly difficult teenage years. Now more than ever with the drug epidemic and gang violence that is raging in this country local boxing programs can make a dramatic difference in the communities that it serves.

UA Local Union 669 Road Sprinkler Fitters, AFL-CIO, is dedicated to the education and training of its members. They strive to stay abreast of the continual evolution of fire sprinkler systems. Local Union 669 will furnish our contractors with journeymen and apprentices that have the aptitude, knowledge, and skill to install a quality fire protection system. Our members work safely, proudly, and reliably to assure our contractors and end-users that the fire protection system will correctly operate every time. They offer apprenticeships to newcomers’ that qualify, experienced journey people, and professional contractors the opportunity to become union members to receive union wages, health benefits, a pension, and more.
