1 killed when fire sweeps through building in Rumford

RUMFORD, Maine (AP) Firefighters say one person died in a fire that swept through a multifamily home in the western Maine town of Rumford.

The fire chief said the body was recovered Tuesday morning. The victim’s identity was not immediately released. The fire was reported late Monday.

The town manager says three families were able to get out safely, but witnesses said the occupants of the building lost everything.
