16 Mile High Speed Chase through Southern Maine ends with Arrest

A high speed chase in Waterboro Sunday morning ended in an arrest in Sanford, according to the York County Sheriff’s Office.

28 year old Gregory Cote of Sanford was pulled over at 2:30 am Sunday morning and waited for deputy Cody Frazier to approach his car before speeding off.

His car became disabled after a 16 mile chase and he was later apprehended after attempting to escape on foot. Cote originally refused to give his identification.

A passenger in Cote’s vehicle was not charged.

Cote is being charged with eluding an officer and is being held on $5,000 bail.

Additional charges being considered are:
Operating After Habitual Offender Revocation (Class D)
Refusing to Submit to Arrest or Detention (Class E)
Failure to Provide Correct Name/Address/DOB (Class E)
Criminal Restraint (Class D)

A video arraignment is scheduled for Monday.
