Three Injured in Portland Crash Involving Dump Trucks

Portland Police are investigating a four-vehicle crash at Washington Avenue and Byfield Road Monday at about 12:45 pm.

Police say an 82-year-old man operating a dump truck swerved to avoid stopped traffic before swerving back to avoid oncoming traffic, resulting in a crash involving two dump trucks, a Toyota Tacoma and a Toyota Corolla.

Two women in the Tacoma, ages 56 and 79 were taken to Maine Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, as was a 25-year-old man who was in the Corrola,

A fourth vehicle, a dump truck operated by a 34-year-old man, was also involved in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation. The Maine State Police Commercial Vehicle Unit assisted with the investigation.

Washington Avenue was closed for approximately two hours while the scene was investigated and cleared. No charges have been filed at this time.
