Two members of a fishing boat crew are charged with assault after another crew member fell into the water and died near Vinalhaven.

The Maine Marine Patrol says Marshal Ames, 57, of North Haven fell off the boat Thursday afternoon in Hurricane Sound.

The Marine Patrol says there was a fight on board with the captain, Geoffrey Barrett, 39, also of North Haven.

Barrett was charged with assault, felony boating under the influence and refusal to submit to a chemical test.

Another crew member, Theodore Lane, 27, of North Haven, was charged with assault and disorderly conduct.
