13 animals were seized and two people were charged following an animal welfare complaint in Belfast.

Belfast police received the complaint from a home on Achorn Road on October 13.

Investigators said several dogs and cats living at the home showed signs of malnutrition and abuse. They were seized and taken to veterinarian hospitals.

24-year-old Kyrsta Sweetland and 24-year-old Robert Debeck were each charged with 13 counts of animal cruelty. Both are being held on $2,500 cash bail and will make an initial court appearance on December 1.

The case is under investigation.
