AUGUSTA, Maine (WGAN) The 2019 Maine Legislature was a session full of bans.

According to the Portland Press Herald, the Democratically-controlled government banned single-use plastic grocery bags, and “forever chemicals” in food packaging. They also prohibited schools from using Indian mascots, schoolchildren from vaping, drivers from using handheld cellphones, and minors from using tanning beds.

Some bills did fail, such as one to ban obscene material in public schools. many of the bans passed this year had failed in previous legislatures.
