2024 Waterville fire leads to arson, attempted murder charges for local man

A Waterville man has been charged with attempted murder and arson in connection with a fire last year.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office says 31-year-old Elijah Yeaton is accused of setting the fire last May at an apartment building on Front Place in Waterville.

Investigators say Yeaton was known to the occupants of the apartment, none of whom were injured in the fire.

Yeaton was already in custody at Kennebec County Jail for an unrelated incident.
