Police are investigating a series of shootings that took place in Yarmouth and Bowdoin on Tuesday morning.
Maine State Police spokesperson Shannon Moss says three people were shot around 10:30 a.m. while driving southbound on I-295 in Yarmouth near miles 15 and 17. One of the victims was listed in critical condition on Tuesday.
Just after 11 a.m., the MaineDOT said the southbound side of 295 in Yarmouth was closed, and traffic was being detoured to Exit 17. By 5 p.m. Tuesday, police said I-295 was back open.
A live broadcast from our news partners at CBS 13 showed a car near an exit with bullet holes in the windshield.
In an update, police said a person of interest was detained and there was no longer any threat to the public.
Maine State Police later confirmed that four people were found dead in a home in Bowdoin on Tuesday shortly before the incident in Yarmouth. They say both shootings are connected.
The names of the victims and the person of interest were not available Tuesday. There’s also been no word about a potential motive.
