AUBURN (WGME)– Seven teams and nearly 100 spectators braved high heat on Saturday at the Auburn-Lewiston Airport, to see who could pull a 35,000-pound aircraft 20 feet, in the fastest time.

The Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mid-Maine Androscoggin Plane Pull, hosted by Elite Airways, raised over $10,000 in just one hour for 1:1 youth mentoring programs provided by the agency to seven counties across Maine.

‘Brothers and sisters’ from Bates College and Edward Little came out to represent the more than 500 youth served who will benefit from the money raised at the event.

For the second straight year the Lewiston Police Department took home top honors with a record time of 7.78 seconds.

CBS 13’s Dave Eid along with Auburn Mayor Jason Levesque were todays emcees.

Over $10,000 was raised to support services for Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Mid Maine.

BBBS of Mid-Maine will hold a second fundraising Plane Pull in the fall, hosted by C&L Aviation Group and Bangor International Airport, on September 10 in Bangor.
