This Fourth of July in Southern Maine features festivities and events across the area. Maine’s coast is a popular spot for firework shows, and the following coastal towns and cities have announced firework launch times:

Portland

The Eastern Promenade will be the city’s viewing spot for fireworks launched from the East End Trail. Food trucks and the Casco Bay Wind Symphony will be in the area at 7 p.m., with fireworks launching around 9:15 p.m.

South Portland

South Portland’s viewing across the water at Bug Light Park will include music, yard games, and food trucks. The Bug Light festivities will begin at 5 p.m. with the road to the park closing at 5 p.m. The city recommends using the Green Belt Pathway to reach the park.

Old Orchard Beach

The fireworks display by the OOB pier will take place at 9:45 p.m. This Palace Playland display also takes place every Thursday throughout the summer, and fireworks will also be shown on Thursday, July 3 in addition to July 4.

The Kennebunks

The towns of Kennebunk and Kennebunkport will host a joint fireworks show. The show will be visible from all three of the beaches in Kennebunk beginning at 9 p.m.

Ogunquit

A DJ takes the stage at 7 p.m. and the Town of Ogunquit fireworks show will launch at 9:15 p.m. Festivities will take place in the Beach Street turnaround. With limited parking and the closure of the Main Beach parking lot for fireworks setup, the town recommends arriving early or using the seasonal trolley.

York

At 9:30 p.m. York’s fireworks will take place at Short Sands Beach.

The City of Portland reminds residents to consider state and local laws and regulations regarding consumer fireworks displays. The cities of Portland and South Portland do not permit consumer fireworks, while some towns allow consumer fireworks on specific days.
