73-Year-Old Inmate at Mountain View Correctional Facility Dies

A 73-year-old prison inmate at Mountain View Correctional Facility in Charleston has died.

The Maine Department of Corrections has confirmed that Richard Sweet of Waterville died Monday at about 8:25 a.m.

The department says his death was attended by medical personnel.

Sweet was serving a 35-year sentence for gross sexual assault that began in 1998.

The Maine attorney general’s office and medical examiner were notified of his death, which is normal procedure.

No further details about the death were released.
