8 students taken to hospital after truck rear-ends school bus in Newburgh

NEWBURGH, Maine (WGAN) Eight children on board a school bus that was hit by a truck in Newburgh on Friday morning were taken to the hospital.

The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office says the accident happened around 7 a.m. on Western Avenue.

Police said a truck that was following the bus failed to stop as the bus turned on its warning lights and rear-ended it.

18 kids were on board, and eight were taken to the hospital after complaining of pain.

The truck’s passenger was also taken to the hospital.

Police say the crash is under investigation.
