Accident During Kennebunk Parade Leaves Three Injured

KENNEBUNK, Maine — On Saturday, an accident occurred during the annual May Day Festival parade in Kennebunk. According to Kennebunk Fire-Rescue, three people sustained injuries, with two of them suffering serious harm.

The incident took place at the beginning of the parade formation on Water Street. An antique vehicle unexpectedly surged forward, resulting in several individuals being caught between the vehicle and a trailer that was part of a float carrying numerous children.

Among the injured were three adults. Two of them sustained significant injuries to their lower extremities, while several children experienced minor bumps and bruises. Bystanders promptly assisted emergency officials in managing the patients.

Both the on-duty crew and parade participants responded swiftly to the situation. Kennebunk Fire-Rescue posted updates on their Facebook page, emphasizing the importance of safety during community events.

Despite the unfortunate incident, the May Day Festival continued as planned in downtown Kennebunk, celebrating the town’s traditions and spirit.
