Amid Coronavirus concerns, Bowdoin College tells students not to return after spring break

Bowdoin College telling students they will not be able to return to campus after spring break because of concerns about Coronavirus.

Schools leaders say classes will be held online.

President Clayton Rose made the announcement in an email to students Wednesday morning.

He said school officials are concerened that students returning to campus after the break may “hasten the virus’s spread.”

The school announced Tuesday that fans will not be allowed to attend the tournament games on the school’s Brunswick campus this weekend.

The school’s Morrell Gymnasium is the site of the NCAA Division III women’s basketball sectional tournament games.

The Portland Press Herald reports that only essential personnel will be allowed in the gym.
