An Early Sunday Morning Crash on the Turnpike, Closes Lines for Hours

An apparent drunk driving accident caused lanes to be shut down for hours, on the Maine Turnpike, early Sunday morning.

The crash happened in Falmouth around 2:30 am, where State Police found two vehicles damaged.

One of the drivers, a 61-year-old Lewiston man was seriously hurt and was taken to the Maine Medical Center in Portland.

He’s listed in critical but stable condition.

Police say the other driver, 30-year-old Joshua Uwimana of Lewiston, freed on foot but was tracked down a mile away from the accident.

Police arrested Uwimana and was reportedly showing signs of being intoxicated.
