MaineHealth has reached an agreement with Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield that will keep Maine’s largest hospital in-network for another two years.

The healthcare provider said Wednesday the agreement means Maine Medical Center patients with Anthem insurance will receive in-network services at the hospital for the next two years.

All other MaineHealth facilities remain in-network as well.

“MaineHealth has an unwavering focus on our patients and their families in order to deliver on our vision of working together so our communities are the healthiest in America,” said Dr. Andy Mueller, CEO of MaineHealth. “Our agreement with Anthem provides both of us with the opportunity to reaffirm our relationship as we work to improve the health and well-being of our communities.”

Earlier this year, negotiations appeared to have stalled amid a long-running dispute between MaineHealth and Anthem.

The health care organization said Anthem was denying full payments for services, while Anthem claimed MaineHealth was overcharging.
