Mainers will have a chance to share their feedback for the wording of a ballot question about transgender athletes.

The question asks voters if they want to restrict access to bathrooms and sports based on the gender on the child’s original birth certificate and allow students to sue the schools.

Secretary of State Shenna Bellows will be accepting public comments on the question until 5 p.m. on May 7.

The question will appear on the ballot in November unless the bill is enacted by the legislature in its current form.
