Arrest made in Westbrook death investigation

One person has been charged with murder for the death of a Westbrook man last week.

State police say 61-year-old Clarence James Pearson was found dead on Tuesday at an apartment in Westbrook. On Monday, police charged 36-year-old Deng Malual of Portland and charged them with murder in Pearson’s death.

Malual was arrested on Portland Street in Portland without incident. They were taken to Cumberland County Jail. A date and time for their initial court appearance has not been set.

There’s been no word on a cause of death for Pearson.
