Arrest related to South Portland shooting prompts lockdown at Gorham schools

Gorham schools were placed in “secure status” on Thursday while police made an arrest nearby as part of a shooting investigation.

The lockdown at Gorham High School, Gorham Middle School and Village Elementary School was lifted around 1:30 p.m.

Gorham Police were assisting South Portland Police in the arrest of 19-year-old Adam Figueroa-Gomez of Gorham, who was taken into custody on Preble Street in Gorham.

Figueroa-Gomez was wanted in connection with a shooting in South Portland’s Redbank Village the night of Sep. 23.

Police also arrested 18-year-old Zane Ibrahim on Sep. 24 in connection with the shooting.

Ibrahim and Figueroa-Gomez are accused of firing shots into a crowd from a vehicle before fleeing the scene.

There were no reported injuries in that shooting.
