Astronaut and Caribou native embarks on another spacewalk

Photo: NASA

Astronaut Jessica Meir left the International Space Station again Wednesday for the first of two spacewalks scheduled for this month.

The Maine native helped to complete the installation of new batteries that store energy generated by the space station’s solar array.

The 1995 graduate of Caribou High School traveled to the ISS in September for a six-month mission.

She and fellow astronaut Christina Koch made history when they embarked on the first-ever all-female spacewalk in October. Meir was joined by Cook again during Wendesday’s spacewalk. NASA says the operation took about seven and a half hours.
