Attorney General investigating death of inmate at Maine Correctional Center

A 21-year-old man imprisoned at Maine Correctional Center in Windham has died.

The Maine Department of Corrections says Alexander Lewis of Wilton died around 1:30 a.m. Thursday.

The department said the Attorney General’s Office and Medical Examiner were notified.

No details about the circumstances surrounding his death have been released.

Lewis was serving a two-year sentence for domestic violence criminal threatening and aggravated assault. He was sentenced in June.
