Auburn Man Charged in Two Separate Shootings in Lewiston


LEWISTON, Maine (WGAN)  Lewiston Police say an Auburn man has been charged in connection with a shooting in Lewiston.

Police say James Crump has been charged with attempted elevated aggravated assault, reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon and criminal mischief.

Police say the charges are connected to a shooting that happened on July 1 at the corner of Ash and Blake Streets.

Police say around 4 a.m. taht day, residents reported hearing four or five gunshots.  Investigating officers found evidence and damage to a building from gunshots.

Police say they also found a victim that was shot at by Crump.  They were not hurt.  Police are not identifying them.

Police say Crump is currently being held at Androscoggin County Jail after being arrested Sunday by Lewiston Police for another shooting that happened on Bartlett Street.

The shootings are unrelated, according to police.

Crump’s bail is currently set at $100,000.
