AUBURN (WGAN) – On Sunday, October 9 at about 2:00 AM Lewiston Police received a 911 call from a man reporting he had been shot.  Officers located the 20-year-old man in the 250 block of Park Street suffering from a gunshot wound to the stomach.  The victim was transported to Central Maine Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Information provided to Lewiston investigators was that the male was shot at a school in Auburn.  Police in Auburn began checking schools and initially could not find indications of a shooting until it was daylight when officers located evidence of a shooting scene at the rear entrance of Walton School, off Boone Avenue.

Auburn and Lewiston detectives are actively investigating this incident and it appears the victim and suspect(s) knew each other, they say.  Auburn School Department officials have been notified about the incident and police say they are confident there is no threat to the students and staff of Walton School.

Auburn Police are asking if anyone has any information to contact Detective Matthew Johnson at 207-333-6650 Ext. 2082.
