Auburn Police Looking for Driver After Utility Worker Injured

Image from Auburn Police Department

Police are looking for a driver after their vehicle snagged a low hanging power line in Auburn, causing a utility worker to fall off a ladder.

Officers say a subcontractor was running a line from a home to a utility pole, when a blue four-door sedan snagged the low hanging line, pulling him off his ladder onto the pavement.

The utility worker, a 39-year-old Florida man, suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital.

Officers say they want to speak with the driver who drove away from the scene, although it’s not clear the driver was aware of what happened. They say the vehicle was traveling on Minot Avenue near Glendale Avenue on Monday around 10 a.m. Police provided a photo of the vehicle of interest but noted the photo quality isn’t great.

Police say at the time of the incident, there were no flaggers at the scene and, while traffic cones were in use, the utility vehicle was not equipped with any type of amber flashing lights.

Anyone with information about the driver in question is asked to call the Auburn Police Department tip line at (207) 333-6653 if you information about this vehicle’s driver.

The incident remains under investigation.
