AUBURN, Maine (WGAN) Despite a demonstration from parents and teachers, the Auburn School Committee is moving forward with it’s plan for the start of the school year.

WGME-TV reports the plan allows students to choose from three options: all remote learning, all in-class instruction or a hybrid model of learning.

Prior to Wednesday’s school committee meeting, some parents and teachers who don’t like the plan held a “stand-in” demonstration outside City Hall.

Some teachers spent months developing a plan they said would better protect the health of students and teachers.

They expressed their frustration after the committee unveiled its own plan, and said the all in-person learning option may put students at risk.

Some said the committee’s plan was too complicated and called for a more unified approach without so many options.
