Portland Mayor Kate Snyder joined the WGAN Morning News Tuesday to discuss a number of issues, including housing options for asylum seekers.

The city says 52 families, a total of 188 people, have arrived in Portland since mid-November.

City Manager Jon Jennings has said Portland has run out of room for additional asylum seekers.

Mayor Snyder told WGAN the city could use some help finding housing options for them.

“This really is an issue that is bigger than Portland,” Snyder said. “We do hope that we have partnership from the region and the state in terms of responding and being compassionate, but also having a plan.”

More than 600 migrant families have come to Portland since June.
