Augusta lawmaker dies following battle with cancer

AUGUSTA, Maine (WGAN) A Maine lawmaker has died during her fourth term in office.

Maine House Speaker Ryan Fecteau said Monday that Donna Doore, who represented Augusta, had died after a battle with cancer.

Doore, who served on a state and local government committee, was born in Augusta and grew up in South China.

Gov. Janet Mills issued a statement Monday saying Doore’s “unfailing optimism and belief in the power of hope was surpassed only by her passion for making life better for the working men and women of Maine.”

Doore leaves behind a husband, two children and two grandchildren.
