Augusta man sentenced for assault at Muskie Federal Building

A man who assaulted a federal officer in Augusta last year was sentenced Tuesday.

According to CBS 13, Derik Broox Wight of Augusta was sentenced to 16 months in prison and three years of supervised release.

Last year, he entered the Muskie Federal Building, pushed a security officer against a wall and held a knife to his throat.

A second security officer shot wight after he refused to drop the knife.

He was hospitalized for 10 days and underwent surgery to remove a portion of his small intestine and bowel.

Wight pleaded guilty in September.
