Bangor woman struck and killed by vehicle while hitchhiking in Orrington

ORRINGTON, Maine (WGAN) Authorities say a 34-year-old Bangor woman was killed after getting hit by a vehicle on Thursday.

The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office said Friday that Megan McGraw was apparently hitchhiking on the southbound side of Route 15 in Orrington when she was hit and killed by a Ford Explorer being driven by 45-year-old Kelli Veilleux of Bucksport a little before 6 p.m. Thursday.

The road was closed for several hours while officers worked to reconstruct the scene of the accident. Police are still reconstructing and mapping the scene.

They don’t believe speed or alcohol were contributing factors.
