Bangor woman to plead guilty for role in death of son

A Bangor woman accused of killing her 10-year-old son is expected to plead guilty to manslaughter on Friday.

According to the Bangor Daily News, 37-year-old Jem Bean will plead guilty for her role in the death of Braxtyn Smith in February of 2024.

The boy’s father and grandmother were charged with depraved indifference murder after he died in the hospital following months of abuse.

Bean will be sentenced after a jury trial for the father and grandmother, which will begin in late March.
