BETHEL(WGME)—Local law enforcement were looking for a man from Bethel after a standoff that happened Friday night, and has since turned himself in.
According to the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office, they received a call around 7:30 p.m. Friday night from a female in New Hampshire saying that her home camera system was turned off.
While on the call, the woman was fearful because she had a protection of abuse order issued for Jeremiah Adams, 47, of Bethel her former boyfriend that also used to live at the residence.
In the press release it states that a friend of the female was going to the Grover Hill home in Bethel to take care of the family dog. Upon arrival she was met by Adams who was armed with a handgun. The friend then left and immediately called Police.
Oxford County Deputies and the Maine State Police then arrived on scene a short time after the call, then surrounding the home. Several hours passed trying to make communications with Adams, who was believed to be barricaded inside the home.
The State Police Tactical Team was also called and continued to have no success contacting Adams.
As daylight appeared on Saturday morning, the team entered the home finding evidence that Adams had been at the home and was armed with firearms, but he was not physically there.
Adams was last seen in Bethel, ME Friday night and was last seen operating a green Jeep Wrangler bearing a Maine license plate of 8845YE, which was later found abandoned in Albany, Maine.
As of 1:45 p.m Saturday afternoon, Adams turned himself into the Rumford Police department where he will be processed and brought to the Oxford County Jail.
Adams will be charged with criminal threatening with a firearm, reckless conduct with a firearm, violation of a protection order, and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
