BIDDEFORD (WGME) — Biddeford Police are investigating an apparent shooting at the corner of Green & Mason.

Police say they received multiple calls from individuals around 9:30 p.m. Friday reporting gun shots fired in the area.

Upon arrival, it was confirmed that shots had been fired. Will Monaco, a resident of the area for about six months, heard the gun shots Friday evening.

“We’re watching a movie and there were we heard like five or six shots pops pretty close from inside,” Monaco said. “The shots were very consecutive.”

Monaco said he was in disbelief when he heard the noise.

“It was kind of panic at first,” Monaco said. “And then once everything clearly subsided, just being like, what? What the heck is going on here?”

Police say a possible vehicle of interest is a white sedan with possibly a damaged windshield. The incident doesn’t appear to be a “drive by” shooting.

Monaco said police presence isn’t anything new to the area.

“There’s one building where there is some disturbances, like throughout the time that I’ve been here, I’ve seen police just to show up; nothing too big or anything,” Monaco said.

Monaco said he still feels safe living in his neighborhood, but he would like to see change between law enforcement and his neighbors.

“You can tell there’s there’s a lot of tension between the residents and the police when they do stop by,” Monaco said. “But you know, it does just make you wonder, like what’s really being done about this for the long term?”

The incident is under investigation by detectives of the Biddeford Police Department.

Police are requesting anyone who may have further information or video footage of the incident to contact the department at 207-282-5187.
