The union representing striking shipbuilders at Bath Iron Works was expected to meet with a federal mediator Monday.

A meeting between the mediator and the company is expected to happen later in the week.

Shipbuilders went on strike last month after 87 percent of those who voted rejected the company’s final, three-year contract offer.

The labor dispute focuses more on work rules, seniority and subcontractors, not wages and benefits.

Under the proposal, workers would’ve receives 3 percent pay raises each year.
