JEFFERSON, Maine (AP) A Massachusetts man whose boat crashed into a swimmer last summer, killing her, is facing a manslaughter charge.

Officials say 44-year-old Jonathan Roberts, of Waban, Massachusetts, was indicted last week on charges of manslaughter, reckless operation of a watercraft and operating a watercraft at an imprudent speed.

Wardens say 32-year-old Kristen McKellar, of Camden, was swimming with a friend on Damarasiscotta Lake when she was hit by a boat in August. They say the boater circled around and passengers attempted to help while McKellar was brought to shore.

She later died.

Lincoln County Assistant District Attorney Matt Gerety said Wednesday that Roberts is due in court on Jan. 31. A message left at Roberts’ home was not immediately returned.
